USA Hockey and USA Roller Sports Come To An Agreement To Strengthen The Inline Hockey Industry
In an effort to strengthen the inline hockey industry and focus on
its primary role as the national governing body for ice hockey in the
United States, USA Hockey announced today it will not offer an inline
membership program after the 2010-11 season.
"With our growing ice membership and the implementation of the
American Development Model, it's important we focus our time and
resources on our primary function as the national governing body for
the sport of ice hockey," said Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA
Hockey. We also believe that supporting USA Roller Sports' efforts as
the national governing body for roller sports will help solidify the
inline industry."
Currently sanctioned programs will continue to
receive benefits through August 31, 2011. After that time, USA Hockey
strongly encourages its inline programs to sanction with USA Roller
Sports, the national governing body for roller sports, including
inline hockey. USA Roller Sports has made a renewed commitment to
inline hockey and as the national governing body of roller sports, is
poised and ready to support and grow inline hockey for years to come.
USA Hockey will continue to offer individual
inline membership registration online through May 31, 2011 and all
member benefits will be valid through August 31, 2011. Please
encourage all players, coaches and referees to complete their
registration by May 31, 2011. USA Hockey will evaluate on a
case-by-case basis the ability for a program to accept inline
registrations in the month of June. Please contact the national office
at 800-888-4656 x117 if your program has a session that does not begin
until July and may need to register members after May 31st. |
